If you’re going to be starting a business, then you need to think about how to create the perfect business office to encourage productivity. Or, even if you’ve already got a business but you think you need to change up the office, then this post is going to be relevant for you too. If you don’t have an office that promotes and encourages high levels of productivity, then you can’t really expect this from your employees. It’s your job to do everything in your power to make your business work, and motivating the people who work for you falls under this category. Now, you might be thinking that the business office has nothing to do with this, but you would be wrong.

In this article, we are going to be taking a look at some of the ways that you can create the perfect office for the highest productivity levels. If you would like to find out more about this topic, keep reading down below.

Think About The Colors

The first thing that we are going to suggest is that you think about the colors that you’re going to use. The human brain associates different colors with different things, and it’s important that you understand this when you’re making this decision. For example, if you choose to use browns and boring colors like this, then your office is going to make people bored and potentially even depressed. The brain connects brown with low mood and boredom, which is certainly not the vibe that you want for your office, and yet some businesses owners choose to go for this anyway. This is the same as the brain connecting happiness with yellow, but this doesn’t exactly scream professional work environment. So, you’ve got to find a color that suits the workplace, but also manages to drive productivity which means helping the mood of your employees.

We highly recommend that you choose a blue or a green. Blue is known as an intellectual color, and green helps to promote balance in all things. One of these colors is going to be ideal, and as there are so many different shades, you are bound to find at least one of them that you like.

Have Enough Space

You’ve also got to think about the amount of space that you have in the office. You don’t want everyone to be squashed in, making the room feel stuffy and claustrophobic all the time because this isn’t going to encourage anyone to work well. All it’s going to do is make your employees uncomfortable and wish that they were anywhere but where they are right now. As such, you need to think about this carefully. Consider how big the desks are, consider how much space each person is going to need in order to be comfortable and all those other little details that will make their life more comfortable.

If you don’t think that there is enough room based on the amount of employees you have, don’t try to squash them in. Instead, we recommend that you think about buying or renting a second office. We know that this is going to cost you a little more money, but a poorly designed office that makes people uncomfortable could end up costing you your employees.

Don’t Close People Off

In movies you always see people in big offices behind closed doors. For some people this is going to be ideal, especially if they are high up in the company and need their own space. However, for the most part, having an open office is going to be the best thing that you can do. To afford people their privacy while they work, you can simply put up office partitions that show people where their space is, and where other people’s space is. This will make everyone feel more connected and part of a team, rather than isolated and on their one. It also makes more room because you don’t have walls and doors in the way of everything.

Let The Light In

There have been multiple studies on humans and natural light, so why would you ignore the findings? Humans work better when they are interacting with natural light often rather than just artificial light. It’s for this reason then that you’re going to want to ensure that you’ve got plenty of windows into the office space. Make sure your employees are getting enough natural light as this will boost their mood, and when they are happy, they are more inclined to work harder for you. If you’ve never heard the phrase ‘happy employees are hardworking employees’, then remember it now because it’s going to be your best friend.

If there aren’t that many windows in the space right now, we suggest that you get some more added. In fact, depending on where your office is located and other things like planning permission, you might even want to have one huge window instead of a number of little ones. It’s up to you, but you need to make sure you aren’t expecting your employees to only experience artificial light from the second they step into your office, to the second they step out.

Consult Your Employees

Have you ever thought about simply asking your employees what they want? Their opinion is ultimately the thing that is going to matter the most, so if you haven’t done this yet, why not? You need to know what would make them happy, and what would make an ideal working environment for them. They will be able to tell you better than anyone else, including a professional interior designer, what would make them most comfortable in the workplace. Then, you can design the space around this, making your employees happy.

If you’re ever concerned about something that your employee suggests, talk to them about it. At the end of the day, you are the boss, but there should always be compromise where necessary. Everyone needs to be happy in order to maintain the best working relationship possible.

Ensure There Is A Break Room

Your employees need somewhere to go when they are on their break. They don’t want to have to sit at their desks all day, and continue to sit there when they are taking their hard earned break. Sure, they can leave the premises, but they might not always want to do this so you need somewhere that they can go to relax without having to leave. A break room is always going to be a fantastic idea because it gives your employees the chance to socialize and get to know each other as well. Put a coffee machine and fridge in here to make sure that there is a place for people to store their lunch and make coffee throughout the day, and this will make it more comfortable. It’s a simple thing to do, but it will make a big difference to your employees, that we can guarantee you.

Motivational Quotes

Another thing that you can think about is adding motivational quotes to the walls. We know that this might not be a conventional thing to do, but you never know when someone just needs to see something inspiring. It’s never possible to know when an individual is going to see those words and it’s just going to change everything for them. When they are having a bad day, people need something to lift their spirits and make them feel better, which these motivational quotes may be able to do. Of course, it won’t always help, but even if they’re just feeling a little down and don’t really want to work that day, it could help.

Try to get a good variation going, and have them on posters rather than painted on the wall. In fact, you could get posters and have a motivational quote of the week if you wanted to. This is a fantastic idea, as it’s always changing and giving people something new to read.

A Little Bit Of Fun

Finally, you might want to bring a little bit of fun into your office to lift the spirits of your employees. For example, you can get something for them to play with such as a table football table for the break room, or whatever else you can think of. As long as it gives them some enjoyment and something to relieve their stress in the middle of the day, it’s going to be a fantastic idea. All work and no play can make people very grumpy, which is not going to help the productivity of your office as a whole.

We hope that you have found this article helpful, and now see some of the ways that you can create the perfect office for the highest productivity levels. It’s important that you think through every decision before you implement it, just to be sure that it is the right one. If you don’t think that you can manage this on your own, hire a professional to help you. They will know exactly what to do! Good luck!
