Hello Everyone
Five years ago I was made redundant and with two young children full-time work, the cost of childcare was not an option, so I decided to become a Travel Counsellor and it’s the best decision I have ever made. I have been in travel since I left school many years ago and it was all I ever wanted to do! If you asked me then would I be running my own company it would have been a firm no, how times change thank goodness. I am passionate about travel so this does not feel like work, its more about creating memorable experiences and making travel dreams come true. I love getting to know my clients, their likes and dislikes and this is done through talking, being more personal and above caring.
I have been a member of the Women’s Business Club in Southampton since it started and remember the very first meeting with Mayor of Southampton in attendance. This club has become a part of my life now, it gives me a safe space to come and talk about things, be it life or work without judgement, we all know business has it ups and downs and when you are self employed it can be a lonely place. I have found the support I get from the monthly meeting is something I have not experienced at any other groups which is why I stay a member.
